PlayMob’s The Global Goals campaign to change the world?

|

PlayMob has recently created the #WorldsBiggestGame iniciative aiming to fight inequality, extreme poverty, fix climate change, etc. by 2030. PlayMob aims to promote their 17 Goals and reach as many mobile gamers as possible by encouraging mobile games’ community and everyone else who cares about the cause to spread the word and the idea behind the campaign.

Gamers have huge potential and power to make a difference. The ambition is to reach as many people as possible, who can then share the message to their peers, creating a viral effect. And this is just the beginning. A year from now we cannot wait to shout about the impact from the gaming community alone, it has the potential to be huge,” PlayMob founder Jude Ower said for The Telegraph.

The campaign also gives people the option to purchase the Global Goals Tote bags, mugs, and mouse pads. All the money raised from sales will go help promote these 17 Global Goals:

  1. No Poverty
  2. Zero Hunger
  3. Good Health and well-being
  4. Quality Education
  5. Gender Equality
  6. Clean water and sanitation
  7. Affordable and clean energy
  8. Decent work and economic growth
  9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  10. Reduced inequalities
  11. Sustainable cities and communities
  12. Responsible consumption and production
  13. Climate action
  14. Life below water
  15. Life on land
  16. Peace and justice strong institutions
  17. Partnership for the goals

So far the campaign is going very well, while all gamers who play the 25 mobile games supporting PlayMob’s campaign are being notified about the cause and encouraged to spread the message they receive. According to The Telegraph, PlayMob has worked in the past with EA, Rovio, Jagex, Miniclip, Oxfam, Room to Read, The Royal Foundation, etc, raising over $1 million for various causes. The company has also been part of United Nations Global Goals’ recent initiative to reach seven billion people in seven days.

Among giant companies that are supporting the initiative are Google Play, Amazon App Store, PlayStation, and many other gaming partners. Many companies are doing what they can to make PlayMob’s message go viral by promoting and sharing the Global Goals with their own community.  Furthermore, as The Telegraph reported,  among studios and titles involved were Glu with Kim Kardashian Hollywood, ZeptoLabs with Cut the Rope 2 and King of Thieves, Gaijin Network and War Thunder, Zoink Games and Zombie Vikings, Palringo, etc.

“The games industry has an excellent track record in supporting good causes, but this is one of the first times that mobile games have been chosen to spread the word, rather than their console and PC counterparts. The proof of this particular pudding will probably come when #worldsbiggestgame has evolved from a marketing campaign to one that will harness developers' skill and ingenuity,” The Telegraph wrote.
