CES 2016 - A glimpse into the future

World’s Largest Innovation Event CES 2016 kicked off in Las Vegas from January 6-9, 2016 gathering world’s business leaders, companies and everyone interested on getting a glimpse into the future. “CES kicks off today as the global platform where emerging technology meets the marketplace. I’m like a kid in a candy store this week, surrounded by mind-blowing innovation that is truly improving the human experience,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association in a press release. “From robotics, 3D printing and unmanned systems to automotive tech, wearables and beyond, our world is changing as technology connects us all and works to solve the impossible. It is incredible we get to bring together so many industry visionaries, influencers and entrepreneurs this week at CES to showcase how tech is changing the world. The energy in Las Vegas right now is palpable,” he added.

Shapiro, who opened the CES 2016 keynote stage, was followed by Reed Hastings, co-founder and CEO of Netflix, who finished his presentation by announcing that while he was speaking, Netflix became available in 130 new countries. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the 49th annual show included a record number of 500 startups.

Among the products featured on CES, were 3D Printing, robotics, electronic gaming, smart home, sensors, etc, while products like Bosch, Casio, DISH, FitBit, GoSun, Hisense, HS Innovation GmbH, Kia, LG, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony, StreamTV, TCL, Valeo , ZTE, etc., where all announced during the CES Press day. “With 2.4 million square feet of space and so many categories from robotics to 3D printing to drones and driverless cars, there is a lot going on,” Shapiro told ABC News.

This year the event decided to drop the ‘International’ and go only by CES.  Besides changing its name, CES 2016 enhanced security procedures due to recent tragedies that have happened all over the world. The show is held every January in Las Vegas, Nevada and has served for the last 49 years as a global stage for innovators and technology companies all over the world. The next CES event will take place in Las Vegas, on January 5-8, 2017.
